What is Desktop Receiving? |
Desktop receiving assumes that shipments of ordered items arrive go directly on your desk and that you are responsible for reporting their safe, partial or complete arrival. The shipments may pass through a receiving dock, but are not actually received at the dock. This may be true if you are ordering office supplies, or even office furniture or computers.
If you are ordering the type of items that require dock receiving and dock distribution processes or storage, then items are probably received on the dock, you may regard desktop receiving as optional.
